Acquire/Inquire: Bannister Gallery, Providence Rhode Island

Here are a few shots from last night’s opening for Inquire/Acquire* at the Bannister Gallery. Kudos to curator James Montford for bringing cohesion to four very different bodies of work. And thanks to all those who braved the snow in Boston (just as we were beginning to think we’d slide past this winter without any) to drive to Providence. Great evening all ’round.

  1. Congratulations on a wonderful show! What a great mix. All the work is fascinating and emphasizes physicality; yours looks beautiful and spiritual.

  2. Oh, this looks like such a wonderful show. The textures are marvelous.

I want to go look at more of Weiner’s work, all swirling motion and a contrast to the serenity of your own gorgeous art.

Thanks Deborah- so happy to be in this show surrounded by women of power and grace- also incredible artists!!

  4. Marcia, this was a wonderful coming together, and one that came together because of you. Thank you for making this happen.

  5. This looks like a powerful show, each artist dealing with materiality in a different way. Deborah, your paintings are of air and water and space (in an outside-the-earth’s-atmosphere way); of inchoate being, searching for form and meaning. And I mean only a positive sense of search, within the heart of a mystery.

  6. Altoon, Thank you. Your response is everything I would want my work to evoke. As always you are wise and well spoken, in word and in image.

  7. Hello Deborah,
So glad we made it to the show and to meet you. The exhibit
was/is ELEVATING in every respect. I had a hard time sleeping that night…
I was just so thrilled to be surrounded by such powerful art.

  8. Gail, thank you for such welcomed words. I know that feeling when something has moved me, often unstated, and will not allow me to sleep. I am honored to have been part of that visceral reaction for you in any sense.

It was a wonderful show, and I so enjoyed meeting you on Thursday night. And I also wanted you to know how lush and inviting I found your work. Thank you for sending me to your site.

I hope to hear from you again!

  9. Congratulations on your beautiful show, Deborah. And the positive critical response is wonderful. Well done.

    all the best
    Val
